South Korea’s industrial production, consumer spending and facility investment all rose in September, marking the first triple increase in three months, data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics showed on Friday.

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index, which excludes the agriculture, livestock and fishery sectors, climbed 3.0% from the previous month—its fastest monthly gain in more than 15 years, the ministry said.

Retail sales, a key gauge of private consumption, increased 3.6% in September, the largest jump in nearly three years. Durable‑goods sales of passenger cars rose 4.4%, while non‑durable goods such as food and beverages grew 4.2%, the ministry disclosed.

Facility investment also rebounded, expanding 5.3% from August after a 9.7% contraction in the prior month. The data point to a turnaround that followed a 1.2% contraction in August, driven by a booming semiconductor sector, the end of labor strikes at automakers and new vehicle launches.

While the report confirms the upward trend in all three economic indicators, it offers no guidance on whether the rebound will sustain, leaving policy implications and broader economic ramifications unconfirmed.
