In brief

Kim Yo Jong held a press statement in Pyongyang calling the U.S. allegations connecting the $6 billion Binance heist to the DPRK defamation. Reuters and BBC reported that North Korea denies involvement, labeling the accusations as “absurd rhetoric.” The U.S. has released statements alleging a DPRK-backed hacking group, but no evidence has been presented. The North Korean government will monitor the situation and reconsider its stance on the U.S. hostile attitude.

On Monday, November 3, 2026, Kim Yo Jong, a senior official of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, condemned the United States for attempting to link the Binance cryptocurrency heist, which stole more than $6 billion, to a North Korean hacking group.

In a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency, Kim called the U.S. claim an effort to “denigrate her country as a cyber criminal state.” She said the United States had “attempted to spread misunderstanding of the DPRK in the international community, blindly linking the DPRK with the cyber‑crime incidents whenever they occur on an international scale.”

“The U.S. moves to mislead the international public opinion constitute a grave political provocation against the DPRK and a grave violation of the DPRK's sovereignty by damaging its international image,” Kim said.

Reuters reported that North Korea described the U.S. allegations as “absurd rhetoric” and a “grave political provocation” against the DPRK, reiterating its determination to monitor and reconsider the U.S. hostile attitude.

The BBC also covered the story, noting that the DPRK has denied any involvement in the record $6.3 billion Binance hack and called the allegations “absurd.”

While the U.S. has linked the robbery to a group allegedly supported by North Korea, no concrete evidence has been publicly presented. The allegations remain unverified, and the international community has yet to confirm whether the DPRK or any of its affiliates played a role in the cyber‑attack.
