Two helicopters operated by Fishtail Air and Air Dynasty collided while landing at a helipad in Solukhumbu district, northeastern Nepal, on Tuesday, November 3, killing one foreign national and injuring a second passenger. The incident occurred at about 8:15 a.m. local time, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). CAAN’s information officer, Gyanendra Bhul, said the rotors of the two aircraft struck each other during the landing process and that the authority was conducting further inquiries to establish additional details.
The Kathmandu Post corroborated the Xinhua report, noting that the collision took place at the helipad in Pheriche, Ward 4 of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, and that investigations are underway. While the exact identity and nationality of the deceased are not fully confirmed, initial reports named the victim as a foreign national, with some sources indicating the person may have been an Indian national aged 47.
CAAN remains the primary investigative body. The agency has not yet released a formal accident report, but officials have indicated that data collection and analysis are ongoing. The incident highlights the challenging terrain and operational risks associated with helicopter traffic in the region.
