In brief

The Russian defence ministry reported a large overnight assault on Kyiv‑area military‑industrial, energy and transport targets, including the Northern Bridge and the Meridian missile plant, as well as power facilities and a cargo vessel. Reuters confirmed the ministry’s statements but did not report independent verification of the damage.

The Russian defence ministry said on Friday that it carried out a massive overnight assault on military‑industrial, energy and transport targets around Kyiv and the surrounding region, Reuters reported.

According to the ministry’s statement, the strike hit the Northern Bridge in Kyiv, which it said was being used to transport weapons, military equipment and vehicles for the Ukrainian armed forces.

Russian forces also struck the Meridian missile plant, the ministry said, a site it claimed produces Flamingo cruise missiles.

The ministry added that several energy and industrial facilities in the Kyiv region were damaged, including a power plant, an electricity substation and a munitions manufacturing facility.

Beyond Kyiv, the assault reportedly damaged an electricity substation in the Zhytomyr region and a cargo vessel in the Black Sea that Russia said was carrying military equipment and dual‑use goods to Ukraine.

Reuters has reported the defence ministry’s claims but has not confirmed the extent of the damage or provided independent verification of the alleged strikes.
