On November 1, Philippine authorities arrested a 57‑year‑old Japanese suspect, believed to be the second‑in‑command of the JP Dragon telecom fraud syndicate, in Nueva Ecija province, north of Manila.
Local media reported that the suspect, who has been regarded as the group’s top leader since its former head was arrested in the Philippines in June last year, was taken into custody by police and immigration personnel.
The JP Dragon syndicate is linked to theft and telecom fraud activities across Asia and is also connected to the “Luffy” crime group that carried out fraud and robberies in Japan between 2021 and 2023, whose key members were similarly arrested in the Philippines.
