In brief
The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification began a seeding campaign on Sunday in Jubail, targeting native wild and rangeland plants as part of its third rehabilitation season. The effort is part of the 2026 National Greening Season, aiming to expand vegetation cover, restore degraded land, and promote sustainability across the Kingdom.
The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) commenced a seeding campaign on Sunday, November 2, 2026, in Jubail, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia, to sow native wild and rangeland plant seeds.
The initiative marks the third season of NCVC’s rehabilitation program, which focuses on reestablishing natural grazing lands through seeding and rainwater harvesting.
By directly sowing seeds selected for local environmental conditions, the campaign aligns with the 2026 National Greening Season, a national effort to expand vegetation cover and restore degraded land.
NCVC specifically chose sites to maximize rehabilitation success, preserve plant genetic resources, and help plants adapt to varying climatic conditions across the Kingdom’s vegetation zones.
In addition to seeding, NCVC continues to develop, protect, and monitor vegetation sites, while overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks nationwide as part of broader ecosystem restoration activities.
The campaign’s stated aims include expanding vegetation cover, rehabilitating rangelands, and promoting environmental sustainability in line with national targets for conserving natural resources.
NCVC’s third season is expected to further the strategic goals of the Saudi green initiative, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable land use and ecological resilience.
