In brief
Preliminary tallies from Bulgaria’s November 1 runoff indicate President Iliana Iotova and vice‑presidential partner Kiril Valchev are ahead, capturing roughly 58% of the votes counted so far. The Central Election Commission has reported that 17.39% of tally sheets were processed on July 17, while a later release on November 2 notes 52.42% processing and gives exact vote totals for both candidates. The opposition pair, Andrey Gurov and Georgi Kandev, trail with about 39% of the vote, according to both sources.
At the end of voting on November 1, Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that incumbent President Iliana Iotova and vice‑presidential candidate Kiril Valchev are leading in the runoff, according to preliminary results released on November 2 by BTA.
BTA reported that 52.42% of tally sheets had been processed, yielding 57.95% of the vote for Iotova and Valchev (580,918 votes) and 39.01% for Andrey Gurov and Georgi Kandev (390,988 votes).
In contrast, an earlier TASS release dated July 17, referencing the same CEC data, reported that at 11:00 p.m. local time only 17.39% of tallies were processed and the leading pair held 57.943% of the votes counted to that point.
The discrepancy between the two processing percentages remains unconfirmed; both outlets agree on the overall lead for Iotova and Valchev, but the exact stage of the count at the time of those releases differs.
Both releases confirm that no-forex options account for 3.04% of the ballots, with approximately 30,473 voters marking "None of the above" in the November 1 run‑off, as reported by BTA.
