At least two people were killed and three others injured on a highway in Afghanistan's Laghman province on Sunday night, provincial police said, referring to the incident that happened on November 2 in the Azizkhan Kas region along the road linking Kabul to the eastern provinces.
The crash occurred when a Hino truck collided with a rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on the Kabul‑to‑eastern provinces highway. Police reported that reckless driving was the main cause of the collision.
All injured individuals were transported to the Laghman provincial hospital for treatment. The police office has confirmed the number of casualties and has cited deteriorating road conditions and a lack of safety measures as common factors behind deadly accidents in war‑torn Afghanistan.
Incidents like this continue to underscore the persistent challenges of road safety in the region, where traffic accidents remain a frequent source of loss and injury amid limited infrastructure and ongoing conflict.
