In brief

State‑run IRIB TV aired footage of sounds across Qeshm, Sirik, Jask, and Bandar Abbas. Sources differ on whether the blasts were from a U.S. strike or Iranian enforcement of maritime traffic. Officials and media outlets provide conflicting accounts with no definitive conclusion.

Saturday night, explosions were heard across four southern Iranian counties—Qeshm, Sirik, Jask, and Bandar Abbas—state‑run IRIB TV reported.

IRIB TV confirmed the blasts but said it was not yet clear whether they resulted from an enemy attack or from the Iranian armed forces firing at "violating" vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

IRNA earlier reported two explosions on Qeshm Island, citing its correspondent as saying that the blasts occurred inside the island. The semi‑official Tasnim news agency, however, quoted an informed source who said the sounds were linked to the Iranian armed forces’ management of maritime traffic in the Strait and that no projectile had struck the island.

Both IRAN and IRS do not definitively identify a perpetrator or confirm damage, leaving the event unverified as a direct attack or internal response.

Reports from U.S. Army officials claim that the U.S. carried out "minor" attacks targeting Qeshm Island early Saturday. Tasnim said two missiles hit the island, but failed to provide details of the damage.

“U.S. forces launched new strikes targeting Iran’s air defense systems, describing the action as “minor.”

U.S. President Donald Trump stated the strikes were minor, but the specific impact on the Iranian coast remains unconfirmed.
