In brief

As July approaches, the second half of the year is the perfect opportunity to reset your goals with positivity and self-compassion.

On July 2, we will reach the halfway mark of 2025, an ideal moment to look back at our experiences over the last six months and contemplate our paths forward. It serves as a balancing point—where the past meets the future, offering an opportunity to regroup and reestablish our priorities. Traditionally, many people set their goals in January, often inspired by the fresh beginnings that winter signifies. This time, I suggest we shift our focus to July 2, a sunny juncture in our yearly journey that encourages a more positive attitude towards resolution-setting. Unlike the often somber and subdued nature of New Year’s resolutions, which can feel overwhelming and laden with expectation, summer is a time of ease, openness, and exploration.Considering this, it might be beneficial to engage in a “Summer Reset.” Instead of being filled with a sense of obligation, let our resolutions become reflectively celebratory. Let’s think of resolutions as enhancements to our lives rather than strict rules providing a harsh critique of our current state. For instance, a friend has resolved to evaluate her choices by asking, “Does this make my life bigger?” This question can inspire thoughtful decisions, and perhaps we should consider similar guiding principles. By focusing on joy and increased fulfillment, we can emphasize personal growth and connection with others who inspire the best versions of ourselves. As we dive into the latter half of the year, let’s challenge ourselves to explore what sparks joy and excitement in our routines. May this mid-point serve as a gentle reminder of the life changes we desire and the joyful moments ahead. Here’s to a fulfilled and radiant second half of 2025!
