NEW YORK (RTWnews) — The Justice Department has ramped up its transparency efforts by releasing a staggering 3 million additional pages of documents in connection with the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. This release is part of the ongoing efforts mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, aimed at exposing details about how the government handled evidence of Epstein’s sexual abuse of minors.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that the files include not only millions of documents but also over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. These records were previously withheld from an earlier batch disclosed in December, leading to outcry and demands for greater accountability.
“Today’s disclosure concludes a thorough process of document identification and review, fulfilling our commitment to transparency and compliance with the Act,” Blanche stated during a press conference.
While the department pushes for transparency, it has noted that certain sensitive information, including identities of potential victims, has been redacted to protect the privacy of those involved. Included in the review process are an estimated six million documents, a number that has significantly increased due to extensive scrutiny and duplication.
These new disclosures follow previous releases just before Christmas, which included documents detailing Epstein's connections to notable figures including former Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. While both men have stated they were unaware of Epstein’s illegal activities, flight logs revealed that Trump utilized Epstein’s private jet in the 1990s.
Investigations into Epstein’s actions came to a tragic end with his suicide in a New York prison in August 2019, shortly after he faced federal charges for sex trafficking. His associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted last year on related charges and is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
In total, the ongoing efforts aim to shed light on the extensive network of sexual abuse that operated under the radar for years, with numerous prominent figures implicated in lawsuits by Epstein’s victims.
As this story develops, updates will be provided to the public, furthering the call for accountability in a case that has shaken the foundations of judicial trust.
