The mysterious death of high school cheerleader Anna Kepner on a Carnival cruise ship is causing a stir and sparking discussions across social media. The 18-year-old girl’s tragic passing continues to attract attention as authorities have yet to announce any criminal charges related to the incident. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's office is still awaiting the final autopsy report.
Interest in Kepner's case has risen following a court filing suggesting that the FBI is investigating her death and speculating that a minor child might be involved. These documents emerged from a dissolution of marriage case involving Thomas and Shauntel Hudson, where Shauntel referred to Anna's father as her paramour. At the time, Anna was cruising with Shauntel and her children.
The FBI has remained tight-lipped, opting not to comment on the investigation's specifics. They have, however, been cited in Hudson's emergency motion to postpone a court hearing due to Anna's sudden death. Furthermore, Hudson's lawyer noted that discussions with the FBI indicated possible criminal implications for one of the minor children.
An attorney representing Hudson stated that her client’s testimony could be detrimental to both her and her child in this emerging investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, there have been no immediate responses from either Hudson or her attorney regarding queries on the matter. Should any charges arise, they would likely originate from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, which has not yet commented on the case.
A memorial service for Anna is scheduled soon, where her family has encouraged guests to wear bright colors in honor of her joyful spirit, rather than traditional black garb. Described in her obituary as someone who adored time by the water, Anna was set to graduate from Temple Christian School in Titusville, Florida, next year. The Carnival Horizon, which has the capacity to carry almost 4,000 passengers, was on a journey to the Caribbean when the incident transpired, before returning to PortMiami as planned and cooperating with the FBI in the investigation.
