Autopsy Reveals No Trauma in Death of French Streamer Jean Pormanove
Preliminary findings indicate medical causes rather than trauma led to the death of the popular content creator, who passed away during a live broadcast.
An autopsy into the death of French streamer Raphaël Graven, famously known as Jean Pormanove, has concluded that trauma was not a factor, according to remarks from the prosecuting authority overseeing the investigation. The 46-year-old content creator, celebrated for his live streams on the platform Kick, was discovered deceased at a residence in Contes, situated near Nice, on Monday.
Minister Clara Chappaz expressed profound shock at the incident, referring to it as an "absolute horror," and has initiated a judicial probe to unpack the specific circumstances around his death. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli revealed on Thursday that medical examiners have determined that Mr. Graven's death "was not traumatic in origin" and did not involve any third-party intervention.
According to Martinelli, forensic experts found no "internal or external traumatic injuries" or burns on Mr. Graven's body, only minor bruises and some healed lesions. The preliminary assessment suggests that the causes of death are likely medical and/or toxicological. Tests are ongoing, as there are indications he may have struggled with cardiovascular issues, alongside ongoing treatment for thyroid complications.
Previously, a representative for Kick stated that they were "urgently reviewing" the situation surrounding Mr. Graven's passing. Local reports indicate that he had experienced episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during his streams and ultimately died in his sleep while broadcasting live.
On Wednesday, prosecutor Martinelli disclosed that several individuals who were present at the time of the incident have been interviewed as part of the investigation. In addition, police have seized equipment and videos to better understand the events that transpired in the lead-up to his death and to identify any factors that may have contributed to this tragic outcome.
