Investigation Underway Following Tragic Death of Popular French Streamer

Authorities in France have opened an investigation into the sudden death of Raphaël Graven, known online as Jeanpormanove, following a live-stream incident that has raised alarming questions about the pressures of streaming culture. He was found deceased at a residence in Contes, situated north of Nice. Reports indicate that Graven's death came during a live broadcast, after enduring episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during extreme challenges he often undertook.

French government official Clara Chappaz has characterized Graven's experience as an "absolute horror," expressing concern about the humiliation he faced as a streamer prior to his death. Kick, the online streaming platform utilized by Graven, stated it is conducting an urgent review of the events leading up to his passing and extended condolences to his family, friends, and fans while reaffirming its commitment to creator protection through community guidelines.

Chappaz has referred the matter to both the French media regulator Arcom and Pharos, which is a system that allows reporting of troubling online content. Sarah El Haïry, France's High Commissioner for Children, echoed the sentiment that platforms bear a significant duty to regulate violent content so that children are shielded from harmful experiences.

The prosecutor's office has confirmed an autopsy is to be conducted to determine the precise causes of death. Graven was a prominent figure with over a million followers across social media and garnered a dedicated community on Kick. His fellow creators have urged fans to honor his memory by not circulating distressing footage related to his passing.
