A massive attack by Russia against Ukraine's capital has killed four people and injured at least eight others, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.
Drones hit several regions overnight, including Zaporizhzhia, where at least 16 people, including three children, were injured, authorities said.
Ukraine's foreign minister stated that hundreds of drones and missiles had been employed in the latest attacks across the country. Russia has not commented.
On Saturday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia would not stop with Ukraine and was testing European air defenses with recent incursions in various NATO countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and has rebuffed international efforts, led by U.S. President Donald Trump, to end the conflict.
Putin will not wait to finish his war in Ukraine. He will open up some other direction. Nobody knows where. He wants that, said Zelensky, speaking hours before the latest Russian barrage began hitting Ukrainian cities.
In neighboring Poland, jets were scrambled early on Sunday as Russia struck western Ukraine, as reported by the Polish armed forces.
The Polish military described the actions, which have become routine since Polish and NATO aircraft shot down three Russian drones within Polish airspace on September 10, as preventative.
Moscow denied responsibility after Denmark said drones were flown over its airports, while Denmark itself reported the incidents appeared to involve a professional actor without specifying any individuals.
Estonia has accused Russia of violating its airspace with warplanes.
Following these incursions, NATO initiated a mission to strengthen its eastern defenses.
Trump suggested that NATO nations should shoot down Russian planes in their airspace and for the first time indicated last week that Ukraine could potentially reclaim all of its lost territory from Moscow.
In a speech at the UN General Assembly, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that his country had no intentions of attacking EU or NATO member states but warned of decisive responses to any perceived aggression directed toward Moscow.
