Tourist Submarine Tragedy in Egypt Claims Lives

A submarine carrying Russian tourists capsized in the Red Sea, leading to multiple fatalities.

Four confirmed dead and several others injured as a submarine accident unfolds off Egypt's coast.

A tragic incident occurred on Thursday off the coast of Egypt when a tourist submarine, transporting around 45 Russian tourists, sank near the popular Red Sea resort of Hurghada. As reported by the Russian Embassy in Egypt, at least four individuals have died due to the accident, while local news outlets suggest the casualty figure may rise to six, though these numbers remain unconfirmed.

Emergency services responded promptly, rescuing 29 passengers from the water and transporting nine injured individuals to local hospitals for treatment. The submarine was reportedly on a sightseeing excursion, exploring the scenic waters known for their vibrant coral reefs.

This type of submarine tour is a popular attraction in the region, which has a history of tourist boat accidents. Just last year, four people lost their lives when a vessel carrying 44 tourists capsized during a six-day diving expedition from Marsa Alam, ultimately bound for Hurghada.

As the situation develops, authorities are likely to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the submarine's sinking. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
