John Pelletier, the Maui Police Chief ensnared in legal controversies, was involved in a car accident near his Wailuku residence on Sunday at approximately 5 P.M., according to reports from The Maui News. Despite Pelletier's self-report of no injuries, independent journalist Jeni, who runs the investigative outlet "Connect the Dots with Jeni," has uncovered claims suggesting a possible DUI coverup linked to the incident.

This troubling incident arises as Pelletier faces accusations of sex trafficking connected to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently embroiled in a federal trial in New York. Throughout his time as police chief, Pelletier has been mired in various misconduct accusations, including allegedly threatening and harassing fellow officers.

According to sources cited by Jeni, Pelletier was reportedly drinking with fellow officers prior to the accident, which saw him drive his vehicle into a ditch. A patrol officer arrived to administer a breathalyzer test but was reportedly pressured by other officers not to proceed with it. A tow truck was then called to assist in removing Pelletier's vehicle from the ditch.

Jeni elaborated on the situation, stating, “Pelletier was upset and sought to deflect blame for driving while intoxicated, insisting instead on attributing the incident to potential vehicle recalls and brake faults. Data from the vehicle's black box indicated the accident was due to 100% acceleration, underscoring the dangers of intoxicated driving.”

Facing multiple complaints and ongoing investigations, Mayor Bissen has previously advocated for Pelletier to be placed on administrative leave. However, Pelletier has resisted this call.
