A man has been arrested following a suspected knife attack that injured three individuals in Stoneybatter, a locality in north Dublin. The Irish police, known as Gardaí, were summoned to the scene on Sunday afternoon after reports of a "serious incident," which Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan described as a "random attack."

According to authorities, two of the injured men sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the third man incurred less severe wounds. All three individuals were promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, and reports from RTÉ News indicated that the injuries resembled "slashing type injuries."

The arrested suspect is currently being held at a police station, with officials maintaining a robust presence in the area while emergency services addressed the situation. The incident transpired across multiple streets within the Arbour Hill area of Stoneybatter.

In response to the attack, local Sinn Féin leader and TD Mary Lou McDonald expressed her concerns for the victims and their families, emphasizing that the community remains in shock. She commend the Gardaí and emergency services for their swift response to the situation.

Minister O'Callaghan stated that he would continue to receive updates regarding the ongoing investigation, which has prompted police to keep several scenes cordoned off. Authorities have sought assistance from the public, urging any witnesses or individuals with relevant video footage taken between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM GMT to come forward.

Fine Gael councillor Ray McAdam reassured residents that they were instructed to secure their homes during the incident. He remarked on the atmosphere in the community, noting a sense of concern balanced with hope that the injured parties recover swiftly. Local residents expressed gratitude for the promptness of the police response amid the shocking events.
