Woman Sentenced to 25 Years for DUI Crash Killing Bride on Wedding Night
A tragic collision on a wedding night results in severe consequences for a drunk driver in South Carolina.
In a shocking turn of events, 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski has accepted a plea deal for her involvement in a fatal crash that claimed the life of newlywed bride Samantha Miller on her wedding night in South Carolina. The incident unfolded in April 2023, when Miller was enjoying a celebratory ride in a golf cart after her wedding ceremony. She was still in her wedding dress when tragedy struck.
Komoroski was charged with multiple counts, including felony DUI resulting in death. She received a 25-year prison sentence for her actions. During the court proceedings, Aric Hutchinson, Miller's husband, expressed the pain of losing his wife and recounted their final moments together. He shared that Samantha had wished for their special night to continue, moments before the catastrophic collision.
The crash occurred in Folly Beach, where Komoroski, having reportedly drank heavily at several bars, drove her vehicle at a staggering 65 mph in a 25 mph zone, crashing into the golf cart transporting the newlyweds. Alcohol analysis revealed her blood alcohol level to be more than three times the legal limit. Komoroski had initially resisted providing breath samples to the police after the incident.
In her courtroom address before sentencing, Komoroski expressed deep remorse and accepted full accountability for her actions. Despite her apologies, Mr. Hutchinson emphasized the lasting impact of the tragedy on his life and those of their families. He stated, "That doesn’t change the fact that Sam’s not here, my wife’s not here, the family we planned, all of our injuries," highlighting the deep scars left by this senseless act.
