British National Dies After Being Struck by President's Convoy in Nairobi

A British man, identified as 79-year-old Edgar Charles Frederick, has been fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a vehicle linked to the motorcade of Kenya's President William Ruto. The incident took place on Thursday on Ngong Road in Nairobi, a bustling area in the capital. Authorities have confirmed that a vehicle, part of the presidential convoy's support team, struck Mr. Frederick, who was in the country visiting his sister and nephew.

Immediately following the accident, police opened an investigation and apprehended the driver of the support vehicle, who reportedly failed to stop at the scene. Police spokesperson Michael Muchiri stated that the driver is expected to appear in court after further inquiries. Furthermore, the victim's next of kin have been notified, and an autopsy is anticipated to take place later on Friday to determine the exact cause of death.

Social media footage captured the distressing moment, showing Mr. Frederick lying injured on the road near a shopping area, with additional images showing him covered in a Maasai Shuka. President Ruto was in the vicinity for political engagements at the time of the accident, and the police have confirmed that the vehicle involved was part of the regional administration's security team.
