TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — An international activist group seeking to deliver aid to Gaza on a flotilla claims that one of its boats was struck by a drone while docked in Tunisia. In contrast, Tunisian authorities denied the involvement of a drone and are currently investigating a fire incident involving a life jacket aboard the boat.

The Global Sumud Flotilla released a statement claiming that the 'Family Boat', which sails under a Portuguese flag, was struck but fortunately, no one onboard was harmed. Video footage shared by the group indicates a flash of light hitting the boat, leading to what appears to be a fire.

The incident has not deterred the flotilla, which is scheduled to depart Tunisia on Wednesday. A news conference is planned for later Tuesday where the group will discuss the situation. They emphasize that their mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza remains unchanged.

The flotilla operates within a larger movement focused on delivering assistance to Gaza by sea. The Tunisian Interior Ministry has declared that the reports of a drone attack are unfounded and noted that specialized security units are investigating the cause of the fire. As of now, the Israeli military and government have not responded to media inquiries about the event.
