Hamas has stated it has received 'some ideas' from the US through mediators on how to forge a ceasefire agreement in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Palestinian armed group indicated that it is willing to develop these ideas further, highlighting a readiness to release its remaining 48 hostages in exchange for a clear declaration ending the war.

A Palestinian official conveyed to the BBC that the US plan entails the freeing of hostages within the first 48 hours of a proposed 60-day truce in return for the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. US President Donald Trump had earlier issued what he termed a 'last warning' to Hamas to agree to a deal, stating that Israel had tentatively accepted his terms.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar confirmed Israel's readiness to reach an agreement to conclude the war with conditions that include the hostages' release and the disarmament of Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu further urged approximately one million Palestinians in Gaza City to evacuate as military offensives intensify in the area.

As the conflict escalates, hospitals have reported at least 40 deaths across Gaza, including several in Gaza City. The Israeli military has intensified its air and ground operations, destroying high-rise buildings it claims were used by Hamas for operational purposes.

On the diplomatic front, Hamas indicated it is in continuous contact with mediators to evolve the US proposals into a more comprehensive agreement that addresses the needs of the Palestinian people. The proposed framework seeks to open negotiations on key issues, including the future of governance in Gaza and the humane management of the ongoing humanitarian crisis, as UN officials warn of an imminent famine in the region.
