On Sunday, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Russian forces struck a railway traffic control facility at Konotop station in the Sumy region and a cargo ship 37 kilometres southwest of Odesa that was transporting military materiel for the Ukrainian army.
The strikes are described as part of a larger campaign of attacks on Ukrainian logistics and port infrastructure that has continued almost daily since mid‑July.
According to the ministry’s statement released on its official Telegram channel, Konotop is a key hub for moving weaponry and equipment from western Ukraine to the Armed Forces.
Separately, the ministry said the vessel struck off Odesa was carrying materiel intended for Ukrainian troops.
These actions are said to complement Russia’s ongoing “special military operation,” which began on 24 February 2022 and is framed by Moscow as a response to alleged threats posed by NATO expansion.
So far, no independent observers or Ukrainian authorities have confirmed the claims, leaving the details of the strikes unverified by third‑party sources.
