In brief

The Prince Naif Quran Memorization Competition’s preliminary rounds are underway in the Medina region, targeting ministry of interior employees and security personnel. Awarded prizes total three million riyals and participants face an electronic scoring system run by a scientific committee. The event, organised by the Ministry of Interior, extends the initiative to promote Quranic memorisation across Saudi security services.

The first preliminary round of the Prince Naif Quran Memorization Competition is now underway at the Medina emirate’s headquarters, organisers announced on November 6, 2026.

The event, held in the capital of the Medina region, is open to civil and security personnel of the Ministry of Interior, the emirate’s civil service and other security sectors.

Organised by the Ministry of Interior, the competition offers total prize money of three million riyals and will be scored via a rigorous electronic system overseen by a specialised scientific committee.

Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the King’s son and emir of Medina, inaugurated the competition’s day‑long activities the previous Sunday, with Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Abdulaziz, the emirate’s deputy in attendance.

The initiative honours the memory of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, a former interior minister who championed Quranic study during his tenure.
