In brief
On Oct. 29, Yemen’s Houthi group said it launched six missile and drone strikes against Saudi oil facilities, airports and a military position, claiming hits on key sites such as the Ras Tanura refinery, Abqaiq, and King Khalid International Airport. Saudi‑led coalition officials confirmed intercepting three missiles and reported casualties from debris in Riyadh, but the extent of damage to the targeted facilities remains unverified. A Wikipedia entry notes 22 deaths at the attacked airports, a figure that has not yet been corroborated by official Saudi or Houthi sources.
On Thursday, 29 October, Yemen’s Houthi movement said it launched six missile and drone attacks against Saudi oil facilities, airports and a military position in Saudi Arabia, according to a televised statement on Houthi‑run al‑Masirah TV.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the attacks targeted the Ras Tanura refinery and Saudi Aramco facilities in Abqaiq, the Rabigh refinery on the Red Sea coast, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, as well as a command center for Saudi military forces in Najran, claiming casualties among soldiers and officers there. Sarea described the attacks as retaliation for recent Saudi strikes on Houthi‑held areas in Yemen.
The Saudi‑led coalition said earlier Thursday that Saudi air defenses intercepted three of the six missiles – two toward Riyadh and one toward the Eastern Province – and destroyed them.
Saudi Civil Defense teams reported that debris from two of the intercepted ballistic missiles fell in Riyadh, damaging a house and a vehicle and causing minor injuries to one citizen. The directorate noted that the debris was dealt with according to standard procedures.
While the Houthis claim their missiles struck key oil and aviation facilities, Saudi officials have not confirmed damage to the refineries or airports beyond the intercepted missiles. A Wikipedia article on the 2026 Houthi attacks lists 22 fatalities at the attacked airports, a figure that has not yet been verified by Saudi or Houthi authorities and is therefore unconfirmed.
