The Bulgarian Education & Science Ministry will confer the Pythagoras Science Contribution Awards at Sofia’s Central Military Club on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, opening the ceremony with Minister Georgi Valchev. Prime Minister Rumen Radev has been invited to attend, according to the Ministry’s press centre.
The 18th annual awards have become one of the country’s most prestigious events celebrating scientific achievements across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences & medicine, and social sciences & humanities. The ceremony will also honour emerging researchers and present a grand prize for overall contributions to science along with a special award for science communication.
Last year’s awards, held Oct. 14, 2025 at the National History Museum, saw 52 scientists competing in eight categories with the grand prize awarded to Prof. Radostina Stoyanova of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The current event serves as the next milestone in this long‑running national program.
Evidently, the awards were presented this evening, Oct. 29, 2026, as reported by BNT news, confirming the ceremony’s occurrence at the Central Military Club in Sofia.
