In brief

A computer-assisted telephone interviewing survey found 45.6 % approval and 53.8 % disapproval for President Lee Jae Myung, while an automated response system survey recorded even higher disapproval at 59.7 %. Both the Democratic Party and the opposition People Power Party see a dip in support according to the poll data. The findings suggest a tightening race for public backing ahead of upcoming elections.

A computer-assisted telephone interviewing poll conducted in Seoul on Monday found that disapproval of President Lee Jae Myung’s state administration exceeds his approval, with 53.8 % disapproval against 45.6 % approval.

The survey, carried out by domestic pollster Flower Research, indicated that the ruling Democratic Party’s support slipped 0.7 percentage points last week to 41.2 %, while the conservative opposition People Power Party’s approval fell 0.9 percentage points to 35.8 %.

According to an automated response system survey held the same week, the gap widened: 39.4 % of respondents approved the president while 59.7 % disapproved, a 20.3‑percentage‑point swing. The Democratic Party’s rating dropped 1.6 percentage points to 38.1 %, and the People Power Party remained unchanged at 41.9 %.

Xinhua reported the poll results, noting that both parties are locked in a tight race for public backing.

Big News Network echoed the findings, describing the wider gap in the automated survey and the decline in party support.
