In brief
In a remarkable transformation, Isidora Uribe Silva, a 20-year-old law student from Chile, has turned her early experiences of discrimination into a powerful mission for inclusion and advocacy. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Isidora first faced bullying and isolation in school, leading her to realize the broader systemic issues of exclusion faced by individuals with disabilities.
At just 13, she developed an innovative app, Encuentra Tu Lugar (Find Your Place), designed to assist disabled individuals in locating accessible parking across Chile. This initiative not only addressed practical needs but also prompted her to found a non-profit organization of the same name, aimed at advocating for inclusion policies. Currently a member of the Generation Equality Adolescent Committee at U.N. Women and part of the U.N. Women Leaders Network, Isidora is committed to advancing gender equality and elevating the voices of women with disabilities. Her work demonstrates the essential role that young advocates play in challenging societal norms and advocating for their rights, inspiring many in the process. With her continued efforts at both local and international levels, Isidora Uribe Silva is making significant strides toward a more inclusive world, helping others navigate the same challenges she once faced.
