US President Donald Trump has unveiled renovations to the bathroom in the Lincoln Bedroom, as his remodeling of the White House continues.

Trump shared photos of the new bathroom on social media, stating it had been renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era. He claimed the new black and white marble is very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!.

This latest change follows Trump's demolition of the East Wing to make way for a new million-dollar ballroom, demonstrating his commitment to putting his personal stamp on the historic residence.

The bathroom, part of Lincoln's office and cabinet room, features gold fixtures and accents for the sink, bathtub faucet, and shower door, emphasizing a luxurious aesthetic. The White House emphasized that this renovation is privately funded, incurring no costs to taxpayers.

However, these renovations have not been without controversy, drawing criticism from conservation groups and political opponents. They argue that Trump's modifications overwhelm the classical styles of the White House and contend he should have sought a public review before making significant changes.

Amidst ongoing tensions caused by a government shutdown, critics have accused Trump of prioritizing aesthetic changes over critical policy issues. Democrats have pointed out that his focus seems to be more on personal renovations than on pressing governance matters, like health insurance subsidies.

Trump's vision for the White House also included transforming the Rose Garden into a patio and gilding various elements in the Oval Office, further stirring debate around his renovation policies.
