A powerful tornado struck southern French villages this morning, injuring more than 40 people and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Eyewitnesses from the village of Verzeille captured the tornado forming beneath a thunderstorm, with wind gusts topping 100 km/h (62 mph) ripping roofs off houses in the nearby town of Pomas.
Local authorities report that around 2,800 households remained without electricity as of Monday evening, and several roads were blocked, hampering emergency response efforts.
First responders are working to provide support, clear debris, and restore power while investigators assess the full extent of damage.
