OKLAHOMA CITY (RTW News) — Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reported that he and his family are safe after a break-in at their home last week during one of his games.

Speaking after the Thunder's victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, Gilgeous-Alexander expressed relief, stating, Long story short, everybody’s safe, and that’s all that really matters in the whole thing. Everything else will come and go, but my loved ones are safe, so I’m OK. I’m happy.

The Nichols Hills police department confirmed they responded to a burglary report at Gilgeous-Alexander’s residence around 7:45 p.m. last Thursday. This coincided with the Thunder's home match against the Washington Wizards. Although officers were dispatched, they reported that the suspects fled prior to arrival, and there have been no arrests made yet.

Police stated they have no reason to believe the public is currently in danger, but have not disclosed whether anyone was home during the incident or if any items were taken.

This break-in has raised alarms, mirroring a string of burglaries targeting homes of prominent athletes in the country, who are often seen as targets due to the valuable items they may possess.

Several high-profile athletes, including NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes and NBA star Luka Doncic, have reported similar burglaries, with law enforcement noting a pattern of these crimes occurring during game days when the players are away from their residences.
