Thai Teen Found in Suitcase Suffocated, Authorities Investigate Australian Suspect

Police in Pattaya discovered the body of 17‑year‑old Tunchanok Donhomla inside a black suitcase near a railway track. An autopsy determined she died from suffocation, and DNA evidence linked the body to 45‑year‑old Australian Simon Peter Carman, who was arrested that night trying to flee the country.

Carman faces four charges: murder, concealing or moving the body, kidnapping a child aged 15‑18, and taking a child for an indecent act. He denied the charges but admits to taking the girl out; prosecutors say they have sealed all evidence to secure a conviction.

CCTV footage shows Carman entering a condominium with Tunchanok at 03:34 on 25 June and leaving the next day with a large suitcase. Police say he loaded the bag onto a motorbike and drove toward a railway line before his arrest.

Carman has claimed self‑defence, citing an argument over payment for sexual services; in custody he apologized to the family and urged other girls to be careful. A family member demanded an execution sentence for the suspect.

If convicted of murder, Carman could face Thailand's death penalty. Police will submit the case to prosecutors by Friday and the indictment deadline is 18 September.
