Russian drones struck a massive shopping centre in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, killing 15 people and injuring 130, including 23 children.
Local officials said the attack involved a "double‑tap" strike. The first drone hit the mall during the day, setting fire to the building, and a second wave struck a few minutes later, targeting emergency workers already at the scene.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called the assault "absolutely cynical and despicable," and said it was carried out by Russian forces in two waves.
The Dnipropetrovsk regional head confirmed 15 deaths, with two more dying later in hospital. He also reported 130 injured, 29 in serious condition, and fears the death toll could rise further as firefighters work to clear the rubble.
Rescue teams from four other Ukrainian regions have been urgently deployed. The mayor of Kryvyi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul, described the drones as flying at "extremely low altitudes" and referred to them as "animals".
Elsewhere, notable casualties include the death of four people in Mykolaiv, two in Kharkiv, and the injuries of several others in Zaporizhzhia following separate drone or missile strikes. Ukraine’s military has called for escalated attacks on Russian energy facilities and strategic retail infrastructure to weaken Russia’s war economy.
