The Powerball jackpot has reached an astonishing $1.7 billion, following the 46th consecutive drawing without a winning ticket. In the latest draw held on Monday night, the numbers drawn were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54, with the Powerball being 7.

This significant jackpot is poised to become the fourth-largest in U.S. lottery history, with the next drawing set for Christmas Eve.

Since September 6, lottery enthusiasts have been waiting in vain for a winning ticket as the jackpot continues to roll over with every drawing.

To date, Powerball's design yields staggering odds of winning at 1 in 292.2 million, primarily aimed at creating larger jackpots. However, lottery officials assure that the odds of winning smaller prizes are notably better, with three draws conducted weekly.

In terms of payout structure, the estimated $1.7 billion jackpot would be awarded to a winner choosing the annuity option, which comprises 30 payments over 29 years. However, the cash option remains more popular, with Monday night’s drawing cashing out at approximately $735.3 million.

Tickets for Powerball are priced at $2 and can be purchased in 45 states, along with Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
