PHILADELPHIA — During their investigation into the disappearance of Kada Scott, a 23-year-old woman missing for two weeks, Philadelphia police uncovered human remains on Saturday. The remains were found following an anonymous tip leading officers to a previously searched wooded area behind an abandoned school.

At a press conference, Deputy Commissioner John Stanford stated that the remains are believed to belong to Scott, yet he refrained from confirming this until the medical examiner's investigation is complete. There’s still a lot of work to be done, he remarked, emphasizing the importance of proper identification.

Scott disappeared while working at her nursing home job, prompting a significant police investigation. The remains were discovered in a shallow grave, suggesting they had been there for several days. Stanford confirmed that the police are in contact with Scott's family regarding the developments in the investigation, which remains active.

Questions surrounding the justice system have emerged after Keon King, a 21-year-old suspect arrested in connection with Scott's disappearance, was charged with kidnapping, stalking, and related offenses. His previous case earlier in the year raised red flags about his release, leading to public scrutiny. King's bail has been set at $2.5 million, and he remains in custody with a preliminary hearing scheduled for next month.

As of Sunday, police spokeswoman Tanya Little stated that there were no further updates from the department, and an inquiry to the medical examiner's office went unanswered.
