Two men in France have been convicted of aggravated violence following an investigation into the death of rapper‑style streamer Raphaël Graven, who was known for extreme challenges on the streaming platform Kick.
Graven, 46, was found dead in a village north of Nice in August 2025, with his body livestreamed on Kick. The court found that Safine Hamadi and Owen Cenazandotti had encouraged Graven to commit humiliating stunts, claiming his consent for the acts.
Both men were handed suspended prison sentences—Hamadi with 18 months and Cenazandotti with two years—along with fines of €5,000 and €15,000 respectively.
Despite his controversial content, the prosecution did not charge the defendants with manslaughter, noting that Graven's death appeared linked to his weak heart and existing health conditions. The court also concluded that there was no abuse of Graven's psychological vulnerability, citing his prior statements of consent.
Both men have been banned from posting on Kick for an additional six months. Kick, which remains under investigation by French authorities, stated it was not a party to the proceedings and offered no comment on the outcome.
Graven, who amassed over a million followers across multiple social media platforms, routinely hosted violent displays of humiliation by other streamers during his broadcasts. His death was confirmed to have occurred on Saturday, 18 August, with a livestream showing him lying on a mattress covered by a duvet. The video was subsequently removed from Kick.
