Drone Lights Recreate Twin Towers Over New York Harbor

A fleet of 2,977 drones lit up New York Harbor in a full‑scale display of the Twin Towers, each light honouring a 9/11 victim.

The “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor” event was a collaborative effort between artists, producers and members of the 9/11 community – families, survivors and first responders – who united to create a single, moving tribute to those lost.

By forming the silhouette of the Twin Towers against the night sky, the drones turned the harbour into a dynamic memorial that recalled the impact of the attacks while celebrating resilience and hope.

The performance was broadcast live, allowing viewers around the world to witness the powerful reminder of remembrance in real time.
