Berlin Pride Attack: One Woman Killed, 16 Injured in Vehicle Ramming Incident
At 22:00 local time on Saturday, a white vehicle violently rammed into a crowd during Berlin’s annual Christopher Street Day parade. The attack left one woman dead and 16 others wounded.
What Happened
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Tiergarten park, near the Brandenburg Gate, for the colorful Pride celebration. The vehicle hit the crowd on the long forested path “Ahornsteig,” and some attendees were also stabbed.
The rally was abruptly cancelled. A large screen projected the word “Evacuation” and urged attendees to leave the area. At 01:00 a.m., police confirmed the death of a woman and injuries to 16 people.
Suspect Details
Police have identified the suspect as 21‑year‑old Abdul B. He is known for connections to Islamist circles. An arrest remains pending and the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities released his photograph and are calling for sightings. The vehicle used in the attack was found abandoned after crashing into a tree, and there may be additional suspects who fled the scene.
Where It Took Place
The attack occurred along Ahornsteig, a long path in Tiergarten park that runs past the Victory Column and leads toward the Brandenburg Gate. The cordoned area is still under search by police.
Police are expanding the hunt across the entire city, including surrounding German states, and are monitoring every possible route the suspect could take.
