On Saturday, the heart of Seoul turned into a sea of purple as fans gathered to welcome back BTS, the world's biggest band, for a comeback concert after a break of more than three years due to mandatory military service. From landmarks adorned with BTS’s signature color to sweeping displays of drone lights over the Han River, the atmosphere was electric with anticipation.

Veronica and Amanda, fans who flew in from the US, expressed their excitement, saying, BTS is everything for us. Even before the members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—made their appearance, the sense of excitement was palpable among the crowd. The city center was transformed into a massive K-pop stage, inspired by the South Korean flag and set against the historic Gwanghwamun gate.

The concert's significance was heightened by its location and grand scale, as the band acknowledged the historic venue, stating it reflected their identity. Suga mentioned performing at such a pivotal location was an honor.

Despite criticism regarding the extensive resources directed towards the event, the South Korean government defended its choice to prioritize BTS’s return, highlighting the group’s cultural impact.

As the concert began, a deep, resonant toll of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok marked the start, grounding the performance in Korean heritage. BTS’s setlist included a mix of new songs from their album "Arirang" alongside well-loved hits like “Butter” and “Dynamite,” igniting joy among the fans. A sea of light sticks illuminated the square, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

The night concluded with the emotional “Mikrokosmos,” spreading a message of hope and self-worth. As the concert showcased their evolution while staying true to their roots, the members continuously expressed gratitude towards their loyal fanbase, marking a successful return for BTS and setting the stage for their upcoming world tour.
