Germany Outlaws 'Kingdom of Germany' Far-Right Group, Arrests Leaders
Nationwide raids lead to the arrest of four leaders of a group denying the legitimacy of the German state, seeking to establish a parallel government.
On May 13, 2025, police deployed 800 officers across seven states to execute the ban, resulting in the arrests of four prominent leaders of the group, including Peter Fitzek, a self-styled monarch. Fitzek, who has previously faced allegations related to leading a criminal network, is also under investigation for illegal financial activities. The Kingdom of Germany, with around 1,000 members, is reportedly the most organized faction of the Reichsbürger movement, which perpetuates conspiracy theories questioning the legitimacy of the current German government. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt emphasized that the group's goal is to establish a breakaway state and detach from the Federal Republic of Germany.
