Five Individuals Charged Following Liam Payne's Tragic Fall in Argentina
Five individuals have reportedly been charged regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of One Direction star Liam Payne in Argentina.
Five people find themselves facing charges connected to the tragic death of Liam Payne, the renowned One Direction singer, who fell from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. Local media sources have reported that among those charged are Gilda Martin, the hotel manager, and Esteban Grassi, a hotel employee. Additionally, Roger Nores, a friend of Payne's, is also facing manslaughter charges as stated by Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office.
Additionally, two other employees, Braian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra, have been charged with drug supply-related offenses. A judge has ordered that two of the aforementioned individuals be held in custody, with their identities yet to be disclosed. Reports indicate that they are expected to appear in court within the next 24 working hours.
The Argentine authorities have been conducting a thorough investigation into the events leading up to Payne's death at the CasaSur hotel. Earlier reports indicated that three individuals were previously charged, but their names had not been made public at that time.
In an interview with US celebrity news outlet TMZ, Roger Nores expressed his sorrow and revealed he had spent time with Payne hours before the incident, describing him as being "playful and happy." Following the fall, police discovered drugs and various damaged items in Payne’s hotel room. Emergency calls from hotel staff indicated that the singer had consumed excessive amounts of drugs and alcohol, leading to chaotic behavior.
Toxicology results have unveiled traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in Payne's system. A post-mortem examination identified the cause of death as "multiple trauma" along with "internal and external hemorrhage" due to the fall. Medical reports suggest that Payne may have fallen while in a state of semi or total unconsciousness, thus ruling out any intention of self-harm or voluntary action at the time of the fall.
Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction, a boy band that achieved international success after appearing on The X Factor in the 2010s. Following the band's hiatus in January 2016, Payne continued his solo career until his untimely death. A funeral service was held for him last month in Amersham, England, attended by his former bandmates, girlfriend, and family.
