**LA 2028 Olympics Unveils Innovative Air Taxi Service for Spectators**

The air taxis could provide a quick way for fans to travel between venues, pending necessary FAA certifications.

In an ambitious move aimed at transforming transportation for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games, LA28 has announced a partnership with Archer Aviation to introduce an air taxi service. This innovative venture seeks to enable spectators and residents to soar over Los Angeles’ infamous traffic, providing a unique travel solution during the Olympic and Paralympic events, as stated by the organizing committee on Thursday.

Archer Aviation plans to deploy a fleet of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs), designed to whisk guests to and from the major venues in just 10 to 20 minutes. However, this revolutionary concept is contingent on the company receiving certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which has yet to be secured. Archer's founder and CEO, Adam Goldstein, expressed optimism about obtaining the essential Type Certification this year, which would signify compliance with design and safety standards.

While specific pricing details for the air taxi rides remain undisclosed, Goldstein has indicated that fares will be in the range of premium ride-hailing services, akin to Uber. Users will be able to conveniently book flights through a dedicated app, with aircraft capable of accommodating up to four passengers and operating similarly to a helicopter.

The Midnight aircraft family exemplifies Archer’s focus on minimizing environmental impacts, boasting quieter operation and reduced emissions compared to traditional helicopters. Goldstein envisions this project as a pivotal moment for urban transportation, stating, “We want to transform the way people get around Los Angeles and leave a legacy that shapes the future of transportation in America.”

The concept of air taxis has been pursued by multiple companies; however, they have faced challenges regarding safety and regulations. Despite the hurdles, Archer is resolute in its ambition to debut these flying taxis at the Olympics, hoping to establish a new era in urban travel. Los Angeles will be hosting the Summer Olympics for the third time, following its previous events in 1932 and 1984. In an unprecedented approach, the city has declared that the 2028 Games will not permit cars, positioning air taxis as a potential solution to this logistical challenge.
