Elon Musk Announces Launch of New Political Party, the America Party

Elon Musk has revealed plans for the America Party, aimed at redefining the political landscape amid ongoing tensions with former President Donald Trump.

In a striking move, Elon Musk declared the establishment of a new political party, the America Party, via his platform X, just weeks following his split with Donald Trump. Positioning the party as a bold alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties, Musk stated, "By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!" This announcement comes in the wake of a public feud with Trump that saw Musk resign from his administration role.

However, details surrounding the formation of the America Party remain vague, and as of Saturday, the Federal Election Commission had not confirmed its registration status. Musk, a past backer of Trump's 2024 campaign, invested around $250 million to support him but has since criticized the former president’s financial policies.

Musk's fallout with Trump escalated after he departed from his government position in May and expressed dissent regarding Trump’s spending and tax plans, specifically targeting the recently passed legislation estimated to increase the US deficit by over $3 trillion within the next decade. Yet, despite this controversy, Musk aims for the America Party to serve as a conduit for what he describes as restoring freedom to the American public amidst a system he claims has become akin to a one-party state.
