**Aid Group Claims Israeli Military Attack Kills Humanitarian Worker in Gaza**

Humanitarian efforts in Gaza face severe challenges as the Palestine Red Crescent Society reports an attack resulting in fatalities and injuries.

The incident heightens concerns over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has reported a tragic incident involving the Israeli military, claiming one of their workers was killed and three others injured during an attack on their headquarters in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip. The aid organization labeled the assault, which ignited a serious fire, as a "deliberate" strike, stressing that the building’s location was well-known to Israeli forces and marked by the protective red emblem of the society.

In response to the allegations, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they are currently reviewing the claim regarding the damage to the PRCS facility. They mentioned that "uninvolved individuals" may have been impacted by an IDF strike in the vicinity.

Video footage shared by the PRCS depicted the headquarters engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing and evident destruction in the aftermath. The society claimed the artillery strike initially hit the upper floors shortly after midnight, and as their teams attempted to conduct evacuations and assess the damage, further strikes pinpointed the second and ground floors while rescue operations were ongoing.

The PRCS identified the deceased worker as Omar Isleem and expressed deep sorrow over his loss. Two other aid workers and a civilian also suffered injuries during the incident. The agency underscored that the facility was visibly marked and characterized the attack as intentional, reiterating calls for accountability and the protection of humanitarian personnel.

The aid group highlighted a grim statistic: since the conflict erupted, 51 staff and volunteers in Gaza have lost their lives due to Israeli operations, with 29 killed while undertaking humanitarian tasks. The United Nations Human Rights office conveyed "deep shock and outrage" at the perpetual violence faced by emergency workers in Gaza and has urged an independent investigation into such incidents.

This incident surfaces amidst escalating humanitarian crises in Gaza, where the Hamas-controlled health ministry detailed that at least 104 individuals had died due to military actions within a 24-hour timeframe, with reports indicating that 65 of those casualties occurred while individuals sought assistance.

The situation became increasingly dire as the Al-Awda Hospital reported casualties from Israeli forces near a key aid distribution point. The IDF asserted that they fired warning shots at individuals they perceived as threats, with further investigation into the matter ongoing. The UN reported that over 1,373 Palestinians had died while seeking food since late May, primarily due to military actions near humanitarian sites.

In light of severe fuel shortages affecting medical facilities in Gaza, which have persisted throughout an 11-week blockade by Israel, some progress has been made. Egyptian state media is reporting that two trucks filled with essential fuel are poised to enter Gaza. The IDF stated that they air-dropped 136 packages of food in coordination with various international partners, as they face ongoing accusations of obstructing aid delivery to the region.

As the situation remains tense, the conflict, ignited by a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, continues to escalate, with significant casualty figures reported. The Hamas-run ministry now claims that up to 60,839 individuals have died across Gaza amid this ongoing crisis.
