UK Solicitor Rebecca Hume Faces Criminal Referral Linked to High Court and Antigua Case
Formal allegations point to abuse of legal processes amidst serious misconduct claims.
In a significant development, UK solicitor Rebecca Hume from Howard Kennedy LLP has been implicated in a formal criminal referral that involves grave accusations including assault, conspiracy, perverting justice, harassment of a disabled litigant, and wrongful arrest. The referral has been submitted by Alkiviades David, the defendant in the ongoing case of Mahim Khan v. Alkiviades David (KB-2025-001991) and serves as the Ambassador-at-Large for the Green Economy of Antigua & Barbuda.
The referral has been directed to several key authorities including the Metropolitan Police Service, Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and the Commissioner of the Antigua & Barbuda Police Force, along with the Attorney General of Antigua & Barbuda.
According to the allegations reported, on July 25, 2025, a physical assault occurred within the Royal Courts of Justice during what was described as the delivery of a Contempt Application. Additional claims include intentional obstruction of evidence submissions that could hinder the proper court process, economic harassment by freezing David's funds, denial of public access to court documents without appropriate legal orders, involvement in a broader conspiracy associated with financial institutions and unacceptable content, and a wrongful arrest that transpired at Hammersmith Police Station, reportedly as a measure of retaliation.
"This ongoing situation reflects a systematic pattern of abuse that significantly jeopardizes the integrity of the legal system in both the UK and Antigua & Barbuda,” asserted David. “It is imperative that immediate and thorough investigations take place.”
The complex nature of this case links both the UK High Court proceedings and the case in Antigua’s Supreme Court to a larger legal framework that involves the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, underscoring the severity of the allegations.
In light of the referral, there are specific actions requested, including an immediate police investigation to secure evidence such as CCTV footage and security logs from the Royal Courts of Justice, alongside witness interviews, regulatory inquiries against Hume and Howard Kennedy LLP by the SRA, and a collaborative investigation effort between the Antigua & Barbuda Police and UK authorities.
The referral is comprehensive, providing a distinct timeline of alleged wrongdoing since July 25, 2025, accompanied by supporting materials that depict both UK and Antigua court proceedings, and detailing witness statements and evidence schedules.
