**US Initiates Review of 55 Million Visas to Monitor Compliance**

U.S. Department of State emphasizes stricter vetting measures amid heightened immigration scrutiny.

The Biden administration has rolled out comprehensive measures aimed at validating visa compliance among millions of holders as part of its immigration strategy.

The U.S. Department of State has embarked on a significant review of over 55 million visa holders to determine if any have violated conditions of their entry or stay. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enforce stricter immigration policies under Secretary of State Marco Rubio's direction. According to a spokesperson from the State Department, those holding U.S. visas will now be subjected to "continuous vetting," which may lead to revocation of their visas if found to have overstayed their permitted duration, engaged in criminal activities, posed public safety threats, or supported terrorist organizations.

Under the administration's hardline approach, which has been a defining feature since Donald Trump took office, immigration checks are becoming increasingly rigorous. This includes potential social media assessments aimed at gauging applicants’ sentiments towards the U.S. and its core values. Matthew Tragesser, a representative from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, remarked that benefits of living in America should not be afforded to individuals harboring anti-American sentiments.

Further measures introduced by Secretary Rubio include an immediate halt on worker visas for truck drivers, responding to growing safety concerns stemming from foreign drivers on U.S. highways, which he noted undermines American truckers' livelihoods. The announcement also follows incidents where foreign students protesting against U.S. foreign policy in relation to the Gaza conflict were reportedly arrested.

In addition, recent policies require travelers from Malawi and Zambia to submit substantial financial deposits for certain visas, and a travel ban remains in effect for nationals from 12 countries, alongside partial restrictions on seven others. The administration has taken steps to temporarily revoke the legal status of over 500,000 migrants and has controversially suggested the elimination of birthright citizenship.

This intensified scrutiny and review marks a significant shift in the U.S. government's approach to immigration and visa enforcement, with wide-reaching implications for visa holders around the world.
