Caroline Kennedy Calls Out Cousin RFK Jr as 'Predator' Ahead of Confirmation Hearing
Caroline Kennedy's scathing letter to senators urges rejection of RFK Jr as Health Secretary due to his views on vaccines.
Caroline Kennedy, the cousin of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), has publicly expressed her opposition to his potential appointment as the next U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, describing him as a "predator" in a sharply worded letter directed at U.S. senators. The letter was released on Tuesday, a day before RFK Jr.'s anticipated confirmation hearing where senators were expected to question him on his controversial views regarding vaccines and public health.
"I have known Bobby my entire life; we grew up together," she stated. "It's no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets because he himself is a predator." In her message, Caroline emphasized how RFK Jr.'s stance on vaccines makes him unsuitable for a key health position in the Trump administration, arguing that he lacks the necessary government, medical, and management experience for the role.
RFK Jr.’s history of vaccine skepticism, including unfounded claims linking vaccines to autism, has fueled concerns regarding his fitness as a health policymaker. Although RFK Jr. has claimed that he does not intend to take vaccinations away from anyone, he aims to rectify what he sees as significant deficiencies in vaccine safety science.
In her video message and accompanying letter, Caroline Kennedy voiced alarm over the influence her cousin could exert if appointed, particularly regarding public health agencies like the CDC and FDA that he would oversee. "His views on vaccines are dangerous and willfully misinformed," she warned.
Kennedy further elaborated on her "predator" comment, accusing RFK Jr. of exploiting the vulnerability of parents with ill children. "He has vaccinated his own children while dissuading others from doing so," she noted. She highlighted her concern that RFK Jr. had previously expressed regret for vaccinating his children while vilifying other parents who do the same.
Additionally, Caroline Kennedy addressed personal conduct issues, claiming RFK Jr. has a troubling history of substance abuse and alleged encouragement of similar behaviors among his family members. RFK Jr. has acknowledged past struggles with heroin addiction and legal troubles for drug offenses.
Moreover, Kennedy alleged animal cruelty against her cousin, accusing him of engaging in violent acts towards pets when they were younger, suggesting that his actions could tarnish the family's legacy. She claimed that the household where RFK Jr. lived with their family became a disturbing site of despair.
Expressing disappointment, Caroline compared RFK Jr.'s actions to the values held by her late father, former President John F. Kennedy, and her uncle Robert Kennedy, implying they would disapprove of his controversial actions. As the confirmation hearing approaches, the political landscape remains charged with anticipation as RFK Jr. prepares to face the scrutiny of the Senate.
