Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Set for Epic Final Concert in Birmingham

Heavy metal legends to perform one last time on July 5, 2024, to raise funds for three charities.

The event marks a reunion of the original Black Sabbath lineup for the first time in 20 years, bringing together an array of rock icons for a monumental charity gala.

Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath are gearing up for a momentous farewell concert planned for July 5, 2024, at Villa Park in Birmingham. This highly-anticipated event will serve as a fundraising festival featuring numerous bands that have been inspired by the heavy metal trailblazers. Among the lineup are renowned acts like Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Gojira, and Anthrax.

This concert marks a historic moment as it will be the first performance of Black Sabbath's original formation—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—together in two decades. Despite his recent health struggles, including Parkinson's disease and spinal injuries, Osbourne is determined to put on a memorable show. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, shared details with BBC News, emphasizing Ozzy's excitement about reuniting with his iconic band and close friends. “This is his full stop,” she stated, highlighting the emotional significance of the event for the 76-year-old rock star.

Titled "Back To The Beginning," the charity concert was officially announced in a press conference attended by Sharon and Black Sabbath's guitarist, Tony Iommi. Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, who will serve as the musical director, endorsed the magnitude of the event, proclaiming it could potentially be "the greatest heavy metal show ever."

The proceeds from this concert will benefit Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorn Children's Hospice, which is supported by Aston Villa. Fans can expect a star-studded lineup, including popular performers such as Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, and Mastodon.

The concert will also feature a special "supergroup" that includes acclaimed musicians like Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, and Wolfgang Van Halen. Each artist intends to perform a mix of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne classics, creating an unforgettable night for attendees.

Black Sabbath, hailed as the innovators of heavy metal, began their journey in 1968 with their first rehearsal just minutes away from Villa Park. Their farewell tour in 2017 concluded with a heartfelt performance for 16,000 fans at NEC Arena, delivering a setlist that celebrated their early hits, including "War Pigs" and "Paranoid."

Since their farewell concert, Osbourne has launched two solo albums; however, his health issues following an ATV accident in 2003 and a fall in 2019 have kept him from touring extensively. He reflected on his experience during an interview with Rolling Stone UK, stating, "I'm taking it one day at a time, and if I can perform again, I will." With the upcoming reunion concert, fans are optimistic for an iconic and emotional send-off to a legendary band.
