**Air India Crash Victim's Remains Mishandled, Son Voices Concerns**

**Family left in distress after receiving mixed remains following the tragedy.**

**Miten Patel, son of crash victims Ashok and Shobhana Patel, reports distressing mix-up involving remains returned to the UK. India's foreign ministry acknowledges collaboration with UK officials to resolve the issue.**

Miten Patel, whose parents were tragically killed in the Air India plane crash, revealed to the BBC that his family received "other remains" in the casket of his mother, Shobhana Patel, after her body was returned to the UK. This unexpected turn has raised troubling questions for Miten, particularly regarding the integrity of other remains being returned, saying, "How do I know there aren't other remains in the casket with her?"

The ill-fated Air India flight, which crashed shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad, India, on June 12, resulted in the loss of 260 lives. Miten's parents were among the first victims repatriated to the UK. In a report by The Daily Mail, concerns have emerged regarding the return of mixed-up bodies, with allegations of wrongful identities affecting grieving families needing closure.

Although Miten expressed that mistakes can happen under pressure, he insisted on accountability regarding the handling of his parents' remains, emphasizing the need for assurance that the right bodies are being returned. He reflects on the thorough scrutiny and professionalism expected in the return of deceased individuals to their loved ones.

India's foreign ministry confirmed the reports, mentioning their commitment to collaborating with UK authorities and ensuring that all procedures are followed. They stated that remains were handled with respect and professionalism, reiterating their active engagement in addressing these grave concerns.

This incident not only compounds the family's grief but also casts a shadow over the identification process after a harrowing tragedy. The ongoing investigation into the Air India crash continues as more families wait for refined answers regarding the fate of their loved ones.
