Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his intent to turn President Donald Trump's contentious proposal for Gaza’s population resettlement into reality during a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem. The discussions follow Trump's recent plan advocating for a takeover of Gaza and the relocation of its two million residents to neighboring nations.

Despite the plan's shocking nature, Rubio highlighted the courage it takes to deviate from what he termed “stale ideas.” Netanyahu underscored the alignment of US and Israeli strategies regarding Gaza, hinting at potential collaborative efforts to implement these changes.

The situation in Gaza has been dire, particularly following the escalation of conflict after Hamas's unexpected cross-border assault on October 7, 2023, which resulted in substantial casualties.
